Year 2014. Rossio Square, in Lisbon downtown, was the centre of one of the major natural catastrophes in Europe; the earthquake of 1755 was followed by a ravage of destruction, fire and a rare recorded tsunami in European history that submerged the city’s downtown for a few long hours before it receded without embracing to dead thousand of living souls. In this Square, the bodies of thousands found in the wreckage of such massive destruction, have been incinerated in open air to avoid disease spreading. The Lisbon Earthquake, as it is known, deeply changed this town forever.
