Year 2009 collection. When I approached this boy I gentle ask his permission to take a photo which he acknowledge by a simple nod, a smile and soft Thai words “dai, mai pen rai” literally meaning “its ok, no problem”. While taking the photos I just thought about the capability of human suffering. I just imagined had he a wound how much pain could he endure in those vary salty soaked conditions to avoid loosing the pay of the day.
At the same time and through the viewfinder of my camera, as the rake moved the salt with heavy duty and fast strokes, I could not unnoticed his tiny but firm muscles and thought about how much protein people nowadays take to get muscles shaped in the gyms while they could have it done on the field… naturally.
