Year 2014. The Costa Vicentina (southwest coastal line) in Alentejo, Portugal is considered having the wildest beaches in Europe. Some are almost virgin beaches because the coastal line from Sines to Lagos is in itself a Natural Park – Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano. Since the environment protection rules are very tough in this region the low level of inhabitants permanently living in that part of the country is also low. Eventually during summer there are pick periods in known spots such as Vila Nova de Milfontes, Porto Covo or Vale da Telha for example, but otherwise is very pleasant to drive in this coastal line in countryside roads with very little traffic, no urban developments and endless green.
Also known for its high rated Camping Parks the Costa Vicentina is a paradise for surfers, kiting and snowboard due to a combination of winds and wild waves.
